Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. Her name is currently her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. As a child, she was an actor with a natural. In an Maryland contest for high school students she was awarded the prize for the Best Actress. In addition to her work at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of The Washington Ballet Company. She earned a degree in Acting from New York University. Her first major role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought the most appreciation. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. Contractor was born from Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria through the age of seven. She'd been exposed to a lot of travel and cultures from a young age. From the age of seven until nine, Contractor went to boarding school in London. The family later moved to Toronto where she lived for most of her childhood. Contractor was a wonderful scholar in Toronto and was trained as a classical ballet dancer. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school which focuses on dance and theater. Contractor decided to take acting seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 year of dance. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles after a one-year stint at the University. The audition was held for the role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. The 92 productions she performed earned praise from Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford accepts eight men as well as four females as well as a few other people for a 20 week crash course. She was scheduled to perform in the following season's production was confirmed. She received the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
